Perfection is the thief of joy

Content.

Is anyone else feeling the end-of-year fatigue?! Is it too soon to say that in October? 😂

It feels like a bit of a consistent theme among clients lately. Work and life are still moving at full speed, but mentally and physically, there’s a little voice craving a pause.

So, I thought I would use this week’s post as a friendly reminder, in case you need to hear it too: we’re not aiming for perfection.

Whilst I’m referencing the food world here, I think this applies to all facets of life.

When we try to meet unrealistic expectations of what a “perfect” meal, a “perfect” week of eating, or a “perfect” routine should look like, we can end up feeling pretty shit when we inevitably fall short.

Maybe it’s time to adjust those expectations and meet yourself where you’re at.

Nourishment isn’t one-size-fits-all, and taking care of yourself doesn’t need to look perfect to count. Sometimes, it looks like a beautifully balanced meal. Other times, it looks like taking the shortcut, keeping things simple, or just doing what you can with the capacity you have.

You don’t have to do it all, and you certainly don’t have to do it perfectly.

Recipe Recommendation. Turkish Eggs

I’ve been a little slack at trying new recipes lately, in all honesty. So, I’ve been turning to my trusted sources for inspiration.

Giuliana Perrone has been making these delicious Turkish eggs on repeat, and it felt rude not to share! What a delish way to start the day 😍

Product Recommendation. Pre-prepared veg

On the theme of not being in the mood to cook much, I’m always here for an effective shortcut.

I actually picked this up from a local IGA (rosemary sprig included!) and it was such an easy way to take care of the sides on steak night.

A friendly reminder that taking the shortcut is more than okay. Frozen veg, pre-cut veg, supermarket shortcuts — whatever makes feeding yourself a little easier is worth considering. Convenience and nourishment can absolutely coexist.

What was and what is are different things.
