Building Habits That Actually Stick

Content.

Have you ever thrown yourself 110% into something, only to find that a few days or weeks later, life gets in the way and you end up right back where you started (or even further behind)?

It’s such a common pattern I see with clients who want to improve their health. The all-or-nothing approach often looks like this: “I’ll drink more water, exercise six days a week, cut out all discretionary foods, and avoid eating out.”

But then, a busy period hits. Energy dips. Motivation fades. And when one habit slips… they all seem to go.

I often describe this as a pendulum effect - swinging between two extremes: all in or all out. It can feel exhausting, and it rarely leads to lasting change.

The alternative? Finding the middle ground.

This looks like building habits slowly and sustainably. Sometimes an entire session with a client might focus on just one goal, like drinking more water or eating breakfast consistently. These may seem small, but they form the foundation for long-term progress.

So, if you recognise that all-or-nothing mindset in yourself, try this:
Choose one small habit that feels realistic right now. One that moves you gently closer to where you want to be.

Recipe Recommendation. Oven-baked Kebabs.

I have to say - YUM! This recipe is so delicious and truely can be ready in under 40 minutes.

With my recent blood test results calling out low iron, I’ve been on the lookout for creative ways to include more red meat and this one’s a winner!

Simple, nutritious and flavour-packed. I will be sure to check out what else Simple Home Edit has on her page.

Product Recommendation. The Swag AU

Like so many of us, I hate food waste! But I also love the convenience of a weekly shop. Enter The Swag.

It’s a simple, clever way to help your fruits and vegetables stay fresh for longer, giving you more time to actually enjoy them (before they go limp or mushy).

It’s been a total game-changer. You can read the science behind how it works here!

Quote.

“He who has a why to live for can bear with almost any how.”
